Dancing Pixel Studios has heard the call of people looking for traditional control input on touch-based devices. The studio has released a new app for Android devices called sixaxis android — guess what it does? Yup, it allows you to use your Sixaxis or DualShock 3 controller on Android phones and tablets. (Great guess!)

Of course, it’s not that simple: The app only works on rooted Android devices and is largely incompatible with HTC and some newer Samsung hardware. Also, there are some other steps one must take prior to enjoying this tryst, like connecting the device to a Windows PC with a USB cable. But if you do get it up and running, you can connect up to four controllers to one device and custom configure your buttons.
You can purchase  ,sixaxis controller android from the Android marketplace right now for $1.67, but we’d suggest trying Dancing Pixel’s other free app first, android app sixaxis controller compatibility, to see if your hardware is up to snuff.
That said, sixaxis controller pkg is pretty cool and its unfortunate I have one of the unsupported HTC phones, free Sixaxis Controller download android I hope they bring this to iOS devices too! That would kick ass being able to use the DS3 for games like 9mm or Real Racing 2!! But who knows if Apple would allow it, we know all to well how they can be with other companies. I still want them to work out their discrepancy with Adobe so we can have Flash support!!!

It’s awesome to see there’s an app for the in Android. I’ve enjoyed using my PS3 controller and Wiimote for use on my N900, which is pretty nifty to use when you can actually hook it up to a TV, and then use the game gripper to game on the go.
I have a rooted Nook Color running CM7, and the app works. It’s pretty nice playing emulators with a real controller, but a little too much to use on the go. It’s a way better solution than using a ,Sixaxis pairing tool. I was surprised to find out it worked even in native android games that don’t let you customize controls, like Radiant.
The android Sixaxis and all DualShock variations make my hands bleed, with their left analog sticks’ position, their separated D-pad buttons, their handles (why can’t they just be straight like in most modern controllers!?) and their overly elevated triggers area.
